Four seasons or four stages of life

Andreas Edzard  Laurent Hunzinger

Sculpture competition, Secondary school JJ. Henner Altkirch. (2002)

The Sculptures of the four seasons " spring, summer, autumn and winter " are exposed along a path leading to the school. Their organic forms can also be associated with human figures.

In this way the four seasons also symbolize four stages of life.

The mosaics present a constantly evolving surface. As each day unfolds, changes in the level and the angel of the light create an ever-changing play of colour and texture. The pieces of mosaic are pebbles and bigger stones, different minerals, pieces of glass and glazed ceramics.

The sculptures are arranged as four separate groups along the approach to the school. Sculptured seats surround each group. The statues present two faces, one colourful and textured, the other more three dimensional and sculptural.
